We took a walk out on Stanage edge on Sunday – this is a 450m high gritstone ridge which runs to the east of Hathersage in Derbyshire. As we climbed out of Sheffield, the snow began to appear at the roadsides and soon there were good scatterings throughout the grass and heather.
Below are a few photographs – including a few snow-enshrouded lichens which seemed unperturbed by the final arrival of winter.
